Pray Out Loud With Others
Prayer is an essential part of a relationship with God; yet praying
out loud with others can be challenging. Learning to pray out loud in
groups can grow your relationship with Christ, remembering that all your
prayers should be with humility and Christ centered. The problem is
being fearful to pray out loud around others, and it is something with
which many have struggled. You may have to pray out loud in front of
everyone at church, at the dinner table, in front of your spouse, kids,
friends, when evangelizing, etc. When you are alone it is always easy,
but when you are around others it can be hard. If you are a Christian
who struggles with this, just calm down and pray regularly. Do not worry
about what people think; just talk to your Father. Try not to overthink
things. You do not have to be fancy and pray a long prayer. Practice
praying out loud by yourself, and you will see it is not hard. Ask God
to help you. Rely on the power of the Holy Spirit. Continually practice,
be bold, be confident in the Lord, and your words will start flowing.
Scripture:
Galatians 6:2
"Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
Ephesians 5:20
"Always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father."
1 Corinthians 14:16
"Otherwise if you bless in
the spirit only, how will the one who fills the place of the ungifted
say the 'Amen' at your giving of thanks, since he does not know what you
are saying?"
Details:
Here are some simple steps to help you feel more comfortable praying out loud with others:
Pray for God’s help. When you know you will have an opportunity to
lead others in prayer, pray ahead of time that God would give you the
ability to do it clearly and helpfully.
- Determine beforehand that you will pray out loud if given the opportunity.
- Know that you are not alone. In corporate prayer, you have the
assurance of Christ’s presence and the promise of His intercession.
- Pray, just pray. You serve a God who hears your prayers. He simply
wants you to come to Him to lift up others. If your heart is right, do
not worry about how the prayer sounds. Just pray.
