Understanding the Strategies

Definitions:

At Southcliff, we believe God has called us to be Guiding People of All Generations and Backgrounds into a Thriving Relationship with Christ. This is our mission statement. It is a huge calling and one we take very seriously. We know there are many ways to guide people into a thriving relationship with Christ but to fulfill our calling, we have identified four specifically. Because we believe every Christ follower that is thriving will be committed to these principles in some way, we have provided opportunities to participate weekly. These four strategies to a thriving relationship with Christ are Worship, Grow, Serve, and Share.

Worship...In our strategy, this is defined as corporate worship. We worship together every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM.

Grow...This is a commitment to small groups in our strategy. We believe we thrive as we do life together in Small Groups or Grow Groups. These meet both on and off campus and at various times throughout the week. We use a unified curriculum so that family members at every age are looking at the same scriptures. Groups are diverse in age, gender, life stage, or affinity.

Serve...This is a strategy that involves serving this local Body. We believe each Christ follower possesses scriptural gifts and abilities that benefit the whole Body of Christ. By discovering those gifts and serving in a position within the Body, we believe each person will thrive and will help create an atmosphere of thriving. Children of God are saved to serve – not to sit.

Share...As a strategy, this is what happens outside the walls of our church. We believe God has called and equipped believers to share the life changing story of the gospel.  All are saved to share, not soak.

Scripture:

Hebrews 10:24-25 - Worship
"And not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”

2 Peter 3:17-18 - Grow
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.”

Ephesians 4:11-16 - Serve
“And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,  for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;  until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;  but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.”

Acts 1:8 - Share
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My   witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
