Thrive Pathway Activity 26

Invite Non-Believers To A Worship Service

Definitions:

All Christians are called to share the gospel with others. A beginning way to help others know about God’s plan for their lives is to invite them to join you in a weekend worship service.

Scripture:

Romans 1:16
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”

Details:

Here are some simple steps to invite someone to worship:

  • Ask God to provide the opportunity.
  • Make a list. Begin by thinking of those in your inner circle who currently do not go to church.
  • Talk about your church. It is much easier to invite someone to church if they have heard you speak about it before.
  • Decide when to invite them. Any time is a good time, but people might be more likely to attend on specific weekends such as Easter or Christmas. Additionally, consider inviting people to church on specific days when visitors are encouraged to attend.
  • Extend the Invitation. Now that you have been praying and laying the groundwork, it is time to invite them to worship. There are many different methods: face to face, texting, sharing on Facebook, etc. Choose the one that is most appropriate for the relationship you have with those you are inviting.
  • Do not make it harder than it is. Pray and think about those who need to hear a life-changing message, and extend the invitation. Most people are just waiting for someone to invite them.
