Mentor Others In Their Faith
It is said, “the best way to learn is to teach.” Likewise, one of the
best ways to thrive in your faith is to help other thrive in theirs.
Mentoring is acting as a “a wise and trusted counselor or teacher.”
Although the term does not appear in scripture, the concept is common.
Numerous relationships in scripture could be described as mentoring.
There are three clear examples: 1) Samuel and Eli (I Samuel 1-4), 2)
Barnabas and Paul (Acts 9-15), and of course, 3) Jesus and his disciples
(Luke 9). The mentoring process just makes sense. Life is easier when
you have access to, and help from, someone who has gone this way before.
Scripture:
I Corinthians 11:1
“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put into practice.”
Details:
Find someone who is seeking a stronger relationship with God than
you are and ask if they would be willing to have a mentoring
relationship with you.
Realize that mentoring doesn’t need to be a formal process. It can
be as simple as meeting regularly to talk about life and how to live it
in Christ.
Remember that no formal training is necessary to be a mentor, and a
person need only be a few steps ahead of you to lead the way.
